Gasket selection
When any type of gasket is used, in order to ensure long-term effective sealing, the following eight important characteristics must be paid attention to when selecting and using the gasket:
1. Gas seal of gasket
For the medium of the sealing system, the gasket can be used for a certain time within the appropriate temperature and pressure range without leakage.
2. Compressibility of gasket
After the connection bolts are tightened, the contact surface of the gasket and flange should be well matched to ensure the sealing
3. Creep resistance of gasket
Under the influence of pressure load and service temperature, the gasket should have better creep resistance, otherwise it will cause bolt torque loss, reduce the surface stress of the gasket, and cause certain leakage.
4. The chemical properties of the gasket
The selected gasket needs to be able to withstand the corrosion of the medium, and at the same time, it must not cause pollution to the sealed medium. The current sealing products need to meet the environmental protection standards. For example, the BD series of sealpilot uses absolutely environmentally friendly non-asbestos sealing material Impact on sealing and environment
5. The resilience of the gasket
Even when the system is stable, there will be a slight displacement due to the temperature and pressure of the two connected flanges. The elastic function of the gasket needs to compensate for this displacement to ensure the tightness of the system.
6. Anti-stickiness of gasket
The gasket should be easily removed from the flange when it is replaced after use, without sticking
7. Corrosion of gasket
Gaskets should be non-corrosive to the sealing system and the flange itself
8. Temperature and pressure of gasket
The selected gasket should ensure that it can be used normally under the condition of the lowest temperature pressure and the highest temperature pressure of the sealing system.
